So with the racing away of this currant 2024 year, it is a joy to be back “on the road” singing again and as always I look forward to each and every booking. Looking back at last year and the gradual freeing from covid over the previous years, it was great to be back in sunny Australia for a tour and then to be back here for the folk clubs etc.
Having Iris Bishop, superb concertina and accordion player accompanying me, is always a great pleasure. Iris has recently made a fantastic video in honour of World Concertina Day and is easily viewable on YouTube. . We will be performing Maypoles to Mistletoe on December 15th in sunny Horsham and details of the venue will be released shortly. It will be so good to be part of the Maypoles to Mistletoe after the Covid breakdown. The Magog and Broadwood Morris teams will be with us along with Carolyn Robson’s and Arky’s Toast, who were part of the show when we first performed it fifty years ago. Lawrence Heath who runs the Guildford Music Institute, a few years ago came up with the idea of doing a scaled down version in the Music Institute club and calling it The Maypole Garland, which has been a joy.
During lockdown I started my Songs From The Settle by putting up songs that were requested on Facebook and it continued through lockdown, the videos are on my YouTube Channel Martyn Wyndham-Read
Well that’s it for now and I do so hope that we will meet up somewhere, sometime “along the track” Have a good safe and healthy New Year what’s left of it.
